Sometimes, you meet people in the blogging world that you instantly connect with and for me, one of those people has been Sarah Parisi. A mom of three boys, she just seems to “get” me and over the years, we’ve shared blog woes, triumphs, and more. I am lucky enough to consider her a peer, but even moreso to call her friend.
Sarah’s claim to fame started with her family blog, Toddling Around Chicagoland, where she showcases adventures that she takes her crew on while also sharing her favorite tips for getting the most out of those visits. Her most popular posts (HELLO, FREE MUSEUM DAYS) have blown up the internet and really take the goog out of Googling that you might have to do to compile all of that information as quickly! She is my go-to resource for pumpkin farms, apple picking, and finding unique adventures to take the boys on, so it’s no wonder that SHE DID A THING.
SO WHEN I HEARD that she had done a thing, a REALLY REALLY REALLY big thing, I was BOWLED OVER to have the honor of reviewing her BRAND NEW endeavor — a BOOK! Chronicling all the best adventures in Chicagoland, The Ultimate Kids’ Adventure Guide to Chicago is your MUST-READ as we gear up for the summer season. Tired of hopping all over to the same tired places? Then this book is for you!
Looking for the latest and greatest in the area that you might not have considered before? Sarah’s taken the guesswork out of that for you and put together a guide that is sure to make this summer your best yet! (And if you have kids like mine who seem to find their way to “boredom,” then you will DEFINITELY want to peruse through this book to find those boredom busters!)
I NEED ALL THE ADVENTURES I CAN GET THIS SUMMER WITH THESE KNUCKLEHEADS!
The format of the book is simple to read and gives you all of the information you need right at hand. Each place noted has a description, address and identifying information, hours of operation, website, and costs associated with it. I LOVE THIS PART because that means I can quickly peruse and find things that are free, inexpensive, or with going out a bit for.
Also included (and this just might be may favorite section!!!) is a greyed out box which offers other pertinent information from Sarah herself – an insider tip (such as where to eat, what to grab, best times to visit), gives you the amount of time you’ll need to explore, and also offers information about the best ways to get there – parking, public transportation and more – vital information that is so great to have at your fingertips!
The book covers things to do and places to visit throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. Looking for a local festival? Look no further. What about a day trip or getaway? Wisconsin and Michigan are right at your fingertips. The places covered range from food, activities, parks, museums, unique hot spots, festivals, fairs, toy stores, theatres, beaches, and a variety of must-stops along the way!
Looking for something fun to do this weekend?! Meet Sarah and snag her book in Woodstock, Illinois!
This summer, I’m aiming to spend more time in the great outdoors with my little men. My plan? Take along The Ultimate Kids’ Adventure Guide to Chicago with me and highlight all the adventures we are able to accomplish as a family. I doubt we’ll get through all of them in just three months, but we’ll certainly have fun trying!
