2016 proved to be a pretty crazy adventure for us and one that we learned to wholeheartedly embrace by the end. Here’s our 2016 in review:
January
Our first home renovation project after my own Clark was putting away Christmas decorations. Laughed out loud because it’s the only way to be.
This little big man turned FIVE.
The big boy of the family turned SEVEN (and lost his first few teeth).
And our nephew was born smack dab in the middle of the boys’ birthdays. January was a fun month!
February
I introduced Marisa to LuLaRoe and she got this crazy idea that we should do business together. Little did we know…(we jump into the queue!)
We add a few members to our climb team and nail another year of giving back and climbing ALL THE STAIRS.
We take an AMAZING trip to Disney World to run Princess Half-Marathon weekend and we love it immensely. I have officially decided that I MUST retire there and/or work in the winter there.
March
This month was officially a blur. Our business started off with a bang and we officially were blown away by our sales and support. Guess this might be a legit thing! (LuLaRoe VIPs)
April
Jim tackled our front landscaping and made the gardens a beautiful project of his. I added those pinwheels – my meager contribution since I basically kill any greenery I touch.
Kaeli and I visited Mr. Bieber again. This year with Jeremiah. J. Bizzle was just as fabulous as ever and I think he secretly loves us.
May
Mother’s Day was perfection. This card though! These darlings made me breakfast in bed – DELISH!
My precious nephew, Finn, was born and I was able to be there just shortly after he was born.
Made my first trek into the city to visit our Chicago office and fell head over heels in love with this view. I LOVE MY CITY!
June
Summer arrived and we made our annual Welcome Summer list. We finished most of the things.
School was officially out for this now second-grader and he was just a wee bit excited.
He conducted his first official ice cream review and he and Jack nailed another season of baseball.
We held a dual birthday party in June for my January babies and it was basically the best decision EVER.
I headed out to see Mackelmore in concert and this moment with his daughter was HEARTmelting.
July
We rocked the patriotic wear for July 4th and enjoyed the holiday and beautiful weather.
A July conference meant a night in my favorite space.
We rocked a summer wedding like crazy and had one of the best times EVER.
August
We made the trek to my Uncle’s blueberry farm in Michigan and Charlie caught his first fish!
The boys LOVED the farm fun and we had an absolute BLAST!
A last-minute decision to see Pitbull = BEST. #Dale
This little critter starts second grade looking like a KING.
And then I got to see a LEGEND at Wrigley Field with my #LifeTwin, Melisa, and it was basically THE BEST.
September
We spent quality time jumping in some puddles.
Held our first annual #CousinSLAYpover (it was fun. I hope they are just as excited to do it again this year!)
This handsome fella started Kindergarten.
I was asked to be Finn-licious’ godmother. BEST.
His godfather came in to help celebrate my aunt’s FIFTY years in the hair business.
And we made our first trek to the Lake Katherine Butterfly Fest (GORGEOUS!)
October
Jim and I went to California for the FIRST TIME EVER because of a work conference I had. We also snuck away to Disneyland because we had NEVER BEEN AND IT WAS AWESOME.
I went back just a little over a week and a half later with my business partner and SIL for a LuLaRoe conference – we had a blast and enjoyed our time SO MUCH.
Scurried back for Finn’s baptism and it looks like I’m married to Ryan. I’m actually married to the hottie in the brown blazer (Rowan’s godfather).
I celebrated my birthday BIG in Cubs’ style. My parents did NOT disappoint.
And Jack conned me into being a Minnie to his Mickey and it was basically the cutest thing EVER.
November
SAY WHHAAAAAAAAAT?!??! The Cubs win the World Series and we are TOO LEGIT TO QUIT.
We voted. Jack voted twice. #BecauseChicago
Gilmore Girls CAME BACK ON NETFLIX AND IT WAS SOMETHING.
December
Held our 87th annual Progressive Dinner and Riya made these DARLING cupcakes.
First BIG snow = First snowballs of the seasons.
I snagged an InstantPot and it officially changed my life. Look for more of that in 2017.
My friend sent me this because she gets me.
I enjoyed our Christmas tree immensely this year and sat many nights beside her.
I discovered this in Charlie’s backpack. Enough said.
Our favorite Georgia peach came to visit us and the boys were smitten as always.
We sent out an Office inspired Christmas card and it was officially my favorite EVER.
That’s our 2016 in a bunch of random snapshots. So much has happened, so much fun enjoyed, and a year that will go down as life-changing for our family. Wishing you the very best in 2017!
What was your favorite 2016 family moment?
