Happy New Year! By now, I’m sure your year is in full swing, your resolutions are rocking, and hope you are having your best year yet! It’s no secret that I’ve battled weight for what seems like forever. The ups and downs of the process are just as exhausting as finding the time and energy to exercise consistently. As the calendar turned to another year, I decided that the effort I put into my leggings should be mirrored in my health journey. If I love myself and want the best for ME, then desiring health and wellness should be a top priority. It is the epitome of being fierce.
I’ve worked to lose weight in the past. And in the words of my mug, I’ve “bean” there and done that. So this year, I’m focusing on body, mind, and soul health without worrying about the numbers.
I threw my scale away.
It’s gone. In the trash. Not to return. I am not defined by a number and I also won’t allow my journey to health and fitness to be derailed because of something the scale didn’t tell me that week. I’m body positive. But let’s not confuse things.
I’m also positive I need to lose weight and be healthy and choose well.
So this year, I’m aiming to ditch the scale and gain more than I ever imagined.
Each month, I’ll aim to reflect on what I’ve gained that month through this month.
January
Independence from caffeine
I quit coffee cold turkey last Monday (January 4th). It was hard and the headaches were HORRID. But about four days in, I felt WORLDS better and didn’t feel like I needed it to exist. I have coffee very rarely now if at all and I FEEL so much better.
Motivation to hit the gym
Snow, sleet, cold, brr….every excuse to NOT go and I still manage to get myself there. If I can’t do the gym, I meet up with my BFF, Shaun T, and we rock it out.
Energy
Seriously. I sleep better at night. I have more energy during the day and I feel like I am worlds more productive. Thank you, exercise and food as fuel.
Reading Time
I really hope to make books a priority this year. I used to love reading, but never seemed to find the time to do so. A few walks here and there and I’ve already read four books this year – right on track!
I won’t always get it right, but I also won’t let one less than perfect choice derail me.
What are you hoping to gain in 2016?
