One of my plans for 2016 is to do more reading, particularly books that challenge me in some significant way. It won’t always be about the challenge, sometimes it will be all in fun, but I’m aiming to share them along the way in case you’re looking for something to read this year.
I started 2016’s first book actually at the tail end of 2015 as I prepared to make some changes for the future. let’s all be brave. Living Life with Everything You Have by annie f. downs seems to come along at just the right time with words of wisdom for what is an integral time of my life.
I finished the book in the first quiet hours of 2016. Charlie woke up with HAPPY NEW YEAR and then took this picture. It should be a fabulous year.
Overall, the book was filled with thoughts that resonated with me. Nothing that pushed me to that WOW moment, but certainly things that I thought, “Yep, that’s me right now.”
A few quotes that resonated with me:
God made you on purpose and God made you to be brave.
Speak love and watch as beautiful things come to life.
And my favorite:
The moment you take the first step, the moment you start, little seeds of courage, the ones I believe are already planted there right now, begin to sprout in your heart. You aren’t headed out to find courage. It’s in you.
Learning to say yes. Remembering to say no. Taking risks, making sacrifices, and learning that God equips us to be brave, but we have to take that first step. A reminder that we have the ability, we just have to have the willingness.
2015’s word of the year was brave and I believe I was in many ways. 2016 is the year of taking that bravery to the next level and being fierce in all I do.
How can you be brave in 2016?
