2016 is shaping up to be a big year for our family and friends as many are planning to welcome babies! With two misters ourselves, we know how the first few weeks and months of welcoming baby can be stressful and overwhelming, but it also means couple time is not very high on the priority list. In an effort to share the pie-ness this season, I decided to put together a little Sur-PIES for the first family with a baby due in 2016. This little random act of pieness requires just a few steps, but also means they can enjoy a date night in without leaving baby behind.
You will need:
Movie of choice (Date Night works perfectly for this)
Cute glasses & straws for milk
Marie Callender’s® Dessert Pie of choice (I opted for the Lattice Apple Pie)
Reddi-wip® Whipped Topping (delicious topping and makes for a complete dessert)
Why pie? Marie Callender’s® offers great options for desserts that are ready quickly which means mom and dad can spend more time with baby and together than getting things ready in the kitchen. Even better, these desserts make giving the gift of pie that much easier, especially during this season.
If you’re looking for other ideas on gift baskets for Marie Callender’s® Dessert Pie, consider incorporating one of these varieties into a gift basket: Lattice Peach Pie, Cherry Crunch Pie, Southern Pecan Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Lattice Apple Pie, or Pumpkin Pecan Streusel.
Need some additional ideas for basket themes?
Family Night Package – family game, fun movie, Marie Callender’s® Dessert Pie, Reddi-wip® Whipped Topping, a cozy blanket, and mugs and hot cocoa
Hostess with the Mostess – festive tablecloth, coordinating cloth napkins, Marie Callender’s® Dessert Pie, Reddi-wip® Whipped Topping, mason jars and striped straws for serving
Apple of My Pie (for the Teacher) – Marie Callender’s® Dessert Pie (any of the apple varieties), Reddi-wip® Whipped Topping, school supplies, cute plate and/or glass, fun card to coordinate with the overall package
You might also consider giving the gift of a fun recipe for family or friends to enjoy Marie Callender’s® Dessert Pie. These Razzle Dazzle Jar Pie Trifles are easy to put together and can be assembled in a flash for a holiday party or as a cute little addition to your dessert table.
For this recipe, you will need:
Marie Callender’s® Dessert Pie Razzleberry Pie (Raspberry + Blackberry = Heaven)
Vanilla Ice Cream
Reddi-wip® Whipped Topping Extra Creamy
Unique shaped jars or glasses
Try not to fall on the floor with how simple this recipe is. Bake up your razzleberry pie until it is golden and bubbly. The full instructions can be found on the box. (Pop this into the oven while you’re getting ready for your day, cleaning for a party, and the hard work is basically done!)
Ready for assembly – flaky, golden goodness!
Let cool down a bit and scoop small mounds of crust and filling to your jars, alternating ice cream and pie. Top with Reddi-wip® Whipped Topping and let your guests enjoy!
Check out those layers of crust and fruit deliciousness, plus the bonus of vanilla ice cream!
Almost ready to eat!
Voila! Don’t they look adorable? All the beauty without the brawn.
One additional bonus idea is to put together a quick Pie to Go! Using leftover jars and pie I had on hand, I put together these mini jars of pie and put together four along with Reddi-Wip whipped topping. To personalize the jars, I used a Christmas gift tag and layered with the metal lid to create a quick, simple gift. These would be great to drop by a neighbor, as a family gift, or for a teacher. Ready to eat mini-pies!
