The Fall season is one of my favorites and not just because of the crisper weather or my birthday! (hint, hint) It’s the time to break out the crockpots, pick some apples, and pull together the delicious sights, sounds, smells, and sweetness of America’s favorite season. Whether you’re putting recipes together for the big game or simply wanting to enjoy the fullness of fall, I have two fabulous recipes for your next gathering.
Apple Pie Sangria {non-alcoholic}
For this recipe, you will need apple juice, cinnamon sticks, pieces of caramel candy, cinnamon, diced apples and pears, and Canada Dry Sparkling Seltzer water, original flavor. You can find a few other great flavors at Kroger as well: Mandarin Orange and Lemon Lime. The richness of the apple pie side of this recipe is balanced well by the all-natural, bubbly nature of Canada Dry Sparkling Seltzer water and as a bonus: zero calories!
To start, you will be creating an apple cider base. You can either create this on the stovetop or in your crockpot. Boil a jug of apple juice with a bottle of cinnamon sticks. The smell will be AMAZING! Melt your caramel pieces down and swirl into your brimming cider – this will add an element of depth and give you that apple pie oomph you’ve been craving.
Once you’ve boiled for a time, let cool completely. Add to your serving glass or pitcher and add 1 can of Canada Dry Sparkling Seltzer water for each cup of the apple cider mixture. Serve with diced apples and pears for a garnish with a swirl of whipped cream and a caramel candy.
I love this recipe because it tastes JUST like an apple pie and can easily be dressed up in your serving glassware. You can also create different flavors of sangria because Canada Dry Sparkling Seltzer water is so versatile and provides the perfect bubbly deliciousness to really make the drink. (Apple Pie Cider + Mandarin Orange Canada Dry Sparkling Seltzer water = heaven!) You can even create a little drink bar for guests to add their own pears, apples, whipped cream, and caramel. Perfect for any party!
Can you say bubbly, crisp, sweet Y-U-M?
Hearty Homemade Chili
My chili recipe is pretty simple to put together and works great in the crockpot. You can brown your meat, peppers, and onions, and then just let simmer all day in the crockpot. Ready to serve for dinner when you get home!
You will need 1 diced red pepper, 1 diced green pepper, 1/2 diced onion, 1 lb. browned ground beef, 2 large cans of tomato puree, 1 can of red kidney beans, and 1 packet of chili seasoning. Brown meat and peppers until meat is fully cooked. Once cooked through, combine meat and peppers with tomato puree, beans, and seasoning. Let simmer throughout the day. When ready to serve, top with onions, sour cream, cheese or whatever you would like. Serve alongside your Apple Pie Sangria for a delicious Fall meal.
