Two little growing misters in tow means we spend a ton of time enjoying the outdoors and ensuring that our family works to provide the very best as they grow – including things full of natural goodness! From packing school lunches to hygiene routines to all the in-between, we work hard to expose them to incorporate natural products into our lifestyle as much as we can – every little bit counts! Earlier this year, Charlie started first grade and entering an all-day program was a big milestone for our family. With that rite of passage of school, we are looking forward to the day Charlie loses his first tooth! He’s a bit late to the game compared to his friends, but he also did not get his teeth until he was almost one year old!
The big day is around the corner as his teeth get a wee bit looser every day, so we are anxiously awaiting his very first visit from the tooth fairy. We know the tooth fairy would want us to have the “fairy” best, so Tom’s of Maine® was sure to find its way to our house. With the tooth fairy’s help, I put together this simple No-Sew (HELLO, Easy! as a sewing machine is NOT my friend) Tooth Fairy Pillow for keeping lost teeth and little goodies from the tooth fairy safe.
To create this simple tooth fairy pillow, you simply need a pillow of your choosing, an old pair of children’s jeans (which with growing boys is NOT difficult to find in our house!), scissors, and fabric fusion glue. That’s it!
I selected a fun colored pillow that I knew Charlie would love with a super soft back for him to snuggle with.
Creating the pillow is simple and follows just a few basic steps.
1. Remove the consumer tag. Charlie HATES tags, so this was a must, plus, the pillow looks much nicer!
2. Cut the leg of one side of your jeans. This will make it easier to reach the pocket.
3. Now it’s time to cut the pocket! Simple cut along the outline of the pocket as close as you can to the seam being careful not to tear the pocket open – otherwise, it loses its effect.
4. Begin applying your fabric fusion glue along the perimeter of the back of the pocket.
5. Cover the entire back of the pocket with your special fusion glue.
6. Lastly, adhere the pocket to your pillow.
Voila! You are ready for a visit from the tooth fairy.
Since we’re still waiting on Charlie’s stubborn tooth to fall out, I started to collect items that I knew would be perfect for her first nighttime visit. A brand new light-up toothbrush, a dental flosser (simple for kids to use themselves), and Tom’s of Maine® toothpaste in a silly strawberry flavor – Charlie’s favorite. I love this toothpaste for the boys because it is made right here in the U.S. (Hello, Maine!) and does not contain any artificial artificial colors, flavors, fragrances, preservatives, animal ingredients. They also do not do any animal testing. I love that I can feel confident in what the tooth fairy gives to my boys to keep their smiles nice and clean!
I put together a miniature letter using a ballpoint pen, “Dear Charlie, Congrats on your first lost tooth! Here are a few things to keep that new tooth clean! Love, The Tooth Fairy!”
Now to hide these goodies until her REAL arrival!
Tom’s of Maine® is not just for kids! They also have Tom’s of Maine® Simpl
Ready to snag your own natural toothpaste from Tom’s of Maine®? Head over to Walmart to snag your favorite flavor and to get everything you need to prepare for the Tooth Fairy’s arrival. Even better, head to your local Walmart on September 19th for a Tom’s of Maine demo to try some for yourself!
How do you incorporate natural ingredients and products into your every day life?

This is such a cute idea! My daughter just lost her first tooth before turning 6 (I didn’t lose my first tooth until I was 7), so it was a bit of a surprise. She has told every person alive that she has lost that tooth – it’s a HUGE milestone for children! #client

I don’t understand, if you put glue all over the pocket, won’t the whole pocket stick to the pillow. Then how do you have an opening?
Carla Chilson says
You’re not cutting the pocket off, cut around edge of pocket leaving the piece of material that is on pant that forms pocket.

Think it would just go around the edge of the pocket.&

That was it.
