Sparkles, Surprises, & Snacks: The Perfect “Miss You” Care Package

When I was in first grade, I vividly remember my mom traveling to Florida during my first few weeks of school to take care of my grandparents. Knowing that I would miss her, she put together a scavenger hunt of little surprises for me to enjoy while she was away – reminders that she loved and missed me. Those sweet tokens are something I remember to this day. Fast forward to the present day and I’m preparing to travel for a few days away from my first grader and the opportunity to recreate this special experience has come along.

Technology has come along way since my time in first grade, so I’m able to connect with Charlie in a very special way with a huggable buddy, the Walmart Exclusive Unicorn from CloudPets™.

Every time we head to Walmart, Charlie spies the  CloudPets™ and is immediately drawn to the special Unicorn. Exclusive to Walmart, this one-of-a-kind squeezable friend has the ability to keep you connected with loved ones when you are far apart from one another. What better way to stay in touch when I’m on my work trip than for him to snuggle up with this special surprise?

As part of my trip preparation, I decided to put together a “Miss You” care package – much like the one my mom made for me –  for each of the boys to enjoy while I am away. Essential items include blank notebooks (they LOVE art projects!) and their own individual watercolor tins.

I also put together these little personalized snack cups using duct tape for a little extra sweetness. Simple to do and also helps to keep the contents a hidden surprise!

Everything’s ready to be assembled in a cute bin or basket (one around your house works perfectly!)

The key to this package is to include some new fun activities paired with their favorite special snacks and incorporating that heart to heart connection for them to cherish while you’re away. I assembled my care packages and left them out for the boys to see once they finished school for the day.

I also knew that they would LOVE the addition of a CloudPets™ friend, so I picked up that special unicorn and named her Sparkles.

 I then set to work downloading the app on my iPad and on Jim’s to make sure that we could stay connected once I was on my way. The app is simple to use and you can see here how it works.  What I love about CloudPets™ is that you can continue to send messages to one another – not just a one time recording. This is a great way to connect with the boys, while they can snuggle their new friend and think of me.

I can’t wait to start trading messages with Charlie and Jack while I’m in another state – the concept of staying connecting because of a fuzzy unicorn is truly awesome.
