For as long as I can remember, health and wellness has been a big part of my husband’s life. From running in high school to training for marathons and races in adulthood, he works hard every day – not just at his job, but in the gym. He wakes up SUPER early every morning, puts together what he needs to tackle the day (including much needed protein), and then heads off to work. He is truly an inspiration – especially when it comes to taking care of his body!

The full circuit is located below and can be pinned for convenience. Form is just as important as the number of times you complete an exercise, so be sure to concentrate on HOW you are completing each. Once you’ve gone through it, the circuit will get easier, but the first step is to get out there and TRY! The first position is a jumping jack. Legs spread and arms extended over your head to meet one another. Complete 20.
Next, burpees aka devil spawn. Stand straight up, squat down, jump out into push-up position, jump back in to a squat.
Stand and arms up! Burpee finished! Complete 20.
Jump back down into push-up position. Back, butt, and legs should be in a straight line, arms should-width apart.
Push yourself down to the ground and push back up to complete one push-up. Do 20 push-ups.
Then, remain in push-up position, body in a line, elbows to the ground, and hold for 30 seconds. You’ve now held a plank. Your abs will burn, but your body will thank you.
Switch to your side, arm in similar plank position, and hold side plan for 30 seconds.
Finish your exercises one round through and then repeat three times! You’ve tackled the Backyard Workout Circuit without ever using a piece of equipment. This is a great exercise regimen to do while the kids are playing outside, if you are low on time, or if you are just looking for something to change things up a bit.
