Happy Thursday!
This summer, we made a big shift as a family and bought a home! In the coming weeks, I’ll be featuring little snippets from around our abode and share the changes we make to this outdated blank slate. There’s a lot of excitement around these parts as we start to plan and make the changes, but there’s also a lot of connection that we have to the house in the current state that it’s in. We absolutely love our new space and are at peace with this big family shift. Charlie will start first grade at the grade school I grew up in, but that’s a post for another day.
Ready to meet #ChezPrincess?
Our house is a nice marriage of “vintage” aka outdated and modern touches – I personally LOVE this fabulous yellow pebble looking tile in our kitchen, but I’m not sure it will stay. Rug is from Target – outdoor section.
The Cafe is open and ready for business! Our single-serve Keurig and joint Mother’s Day and Father’s Day gift sit there prominently. I am aiming for turquoise and red in my future kitchen, so I’m starting with subtle hints of that now.
These beautiful flowers grow in their yard. I’m a terrible gardener, so these will either die or my mother will save them.
Oh hey, 100 year old dishwasher! We think it works. I’m slightly terrified to try it. You didn’t even see it, right? Because it camouflages perfectly into the cabinets.
This turn-dial clock is basically the best.
Speakeasy mini-window and blinds for the win. We better never change this door.
Our mug collection is strong. Princess meets Superheroes meets Office crush meets Kitsch.
Meet our first pet. Isn’t she adorable?
Old garage sale trunk turned coffee table is the best ever.
Our first major renovation in the new house is complete! Meet our original furnace and water heater. Those bungee cords kept the entire front portion from rattling our whole house when it kicked on…
Meet our new friends! We changed out our furnace, air conditioner, and water heater thanks to our friend, Aaron, and Maximum Heating. He and his brother did an AMAZING job! Highly recommend if you’re looking for someone. Jim was bit sad to lose the bungee cords, but alas onwards and upwards.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks as you see more from our adorable space.
What part of your house are you currently working on?

That dishwasher is pretty much the best thing I’ve ever seen. I hope you keep it forever. Speaking of keeping things forever, if you keep the speakeasy door, you will have to have a secret password for people to get in. Love the new AC and water heater fixins! Congrats on the adorable new house!

Congratulations!!! I am so happy for you guys. Have fun fixing it up!!!
My first (last) house was built in 1961. I am SO familiar with those lovely vintage appliances. 🙂 We had tons of doo doo brown, olive green, and pee yellow throughout our house. LOL! Amazingly all of the appliances still worked 35+ years later!
I will be following your progress. It is so fun to see what you are doing. I’m obsessed with all things home improvement. I LOVE the way the front looks now with the bushes gone.
Have fun. 🙂
