This past weekend, my niece and I headed out for the adventure of a lifetime to catch Taylor Swift on the first day of her two-day stint in Chicago at Soldier Field.
In sum:
9 hours of straight standing + walking, 8 months ago with 1 computer, 1 iPad and 1 phone in hand to get tickets, 2 hours of pouring rain while waiting to get in, 2 pairs of shoes that we wore for fashion (not comfort) and now are paying for, 3 opening acts, 3 pairs of #TaylorLeggings, not moving from the same spot for six hours because we didn’t want to lose our sacred spot in the Pit, Polaroid pictures, Chris + his sister, #RightPitBetterThanLeftPit and a light-up wristband that never quite worked = just a few snippets of a night we will never forget.
{Picture Overload Coming Up}
Bought this hippie-esque headband from The Icing and snapped a quick pic before my hair went up to escape the evening humidity….
Werk. Leggings for Life. From RedBubble.
We received SO MANY COMPLIMENTS on these leggings. They were definitely a hit!
Quick coffee stop and bathroom #GlamourShots selfie at our Hyatt drop-off location
Found this stunning light-up jacket in line. Ended up right next to him in the Pit!
After grabbing our tickets from Will Call, we were rained on for two hours. Poured on. Thundered and Lightninged on. Straight up soaked. Good thing we did our hair…
We’re in! Clear blue skies without a raincloud in sight!
We met this epic brother/sister crew in the Pit and he brought a Polaroid camera. He snapped this perfect shot of us and it solidified the night just perfectly.

Opening Acts:
Shawn Mendes – K screamed so loud that I temporarily lost hearing in one ear. He was adorable and now I’m secretly in love with his tunes.
Vance Joy – the guitarist was cute. Vance was meh. Music was good.
HAIM – strange at first, but incredibly talented. Taylor’s friends and head-bangers to boot.
Taylor came on at 9:30 p.m. and the crowd went WILD!
She’s ON! Welcome to New York Chicago!
Our Pit Space was PERFECT and we could practically hug her. She was and is perfect in just about every way. Those legs though.
Facing her 55,000 fans.
The effects were amazing! Even if you couldn’t see her face directly, the HUGE screens gave you an up-close and personal view.
A special visit from Andy Grammar of Honey, I’m Good fame.
Love Story while up and away on the Runway? Yes, please.
She also proceeded to take it WAY BACK and sing Fifteen. I may or may not have started sobbing and looking over at fifteen-year-old K with her own eyes sparkling singing along and thinking about how QUICKLY TIME FLIES AND HOW COULD WE REALLY BE AT A CONCERT LIKE REAL ADULTS HAVING THE TIME OF OUR LIVES. Then proceeded to text my favorite Sarah and talk about how we were all crying because Taylor decided to throw it back, sing Fifteen and make us all get rulllllll emotional about this precious fifteen-year-old in our own lives. It was a moment in time that I will never forget.
Light-up glow bracelets. Mine didn’t work. I sobbed for an hour (kidding, but BUMMER!)
Sweaty excited concert selfie
Bad Blood, YAS. Also, the Bass was so ridiculous that our ear drums were bouncing along. Insanity.
Beautiful beacon of light
FRIENDS! Making the Right Pit the place to be – SO FREAKING EPIC!
We happened to catch ourselves at the end on the BIG SCREEN and were a bit enthusiastic about seeing ourselves…
And that’s a WRAP!
