I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Mudderella. I received complimentary admission to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
This past weekend was Mudderella in Chicago and I think it’s safe to say that the overcast skies and heavy rains were sure to make the event an even bigger mud fest than originally anticipated! I headed out to the venue early to get my bearings and found the event itself to be well-organized, clearly labeled and run efficiently.*
*I have received feedback from other participants that they disagree with this sentiment. I will again state that I was at the venue extremely early, when it first opened, so my experience can reflect only that time period, not anything else. My apologies if that was not your experience as well.
By the time I met up with everyone, I was a muddy mess already and I promptly turned in my phone to bag check. We didn’t bring any spectators and couldn’t risk losing our smartphones along the course!
Mudderella supports making a difference and gives to charities that support women through a variety of charity partners. This was a bold reminder throughout the arena space. The event itself is also a great reminder that everyone gets a little muddy – regardless of our physical abilities. Focus on the good and just finishing – everyone’s there, cheering you on, I promise!
Be bold. Be brave. Share your Story.
So close, yet so far away!
The waters were deep, but the friendships (and teamwork) were deeper.
Got mud? Will travel.
The course was considerably more muddy than I anticipated and the obstacles were difficult, but definitely manageable. In comparison to some other races I’ve run, this was definitely one of the most fun and simplest to navigate. Again, the feedback that I got from those around me was also positive.
Check out those dirty legs…
Overall, our experience was intensely positive and muddy! The weather wasn’t a deterrent and we all agreed we were happy that it wasn’t too hot! We didn’t focus on the time, but rather on hanging out together and just having a great time.
Mudderella is the first and only full-day athletic event designed for women, by women that focuses on building a wide variety of skills and strengths. Think mud, running, challenges, obstacles and loads of fun (I think!) Even better, we’ve long learned that working out is even more fun in groups, so why not grab a group of friends and head out to a fitness challenge that is sure to keep you on your dirty toes!

A well-oiled machine? For anyone reading this, I encourage you to peruse the facebook comments on Mudderella’s page to get the real story behind Mudderella Chicago 2015. I understand that this blog is simply promotional, however it’s disappointing for you to paint such a sunny picture of what was a very traumatic and scary day for hundreds of women. Shame on you.
