Leggings have stirred up their fair share of controversy in recent months. From girls getting banned from school or being required to change to bloggers taking an anti-leggings stance, leggings seem to be the most serious offense that someone can do when it comes to getting dressed for the day’s events. In an effort to show that leggings can be stylish and have a perfectly acceptable place in the normal wardrobe, I thought I would give myself a leggings challenge this summer. How could I take crazy patterned leggings and give them new life? If you’re a fan of leggings, this post is for you. If you’re not? I don’t care because I’m a proud leggings wearer and supporter.
Summer’s hashtag: #LeggingsWearDontCare.
Because I can’t walk around caring what other people think about my outrageous attire.
Every so often, I’ll share my outfit combinations and where I snagged certain items from. The awesome things about leggings is that the sky’s the limit and I encourage you to determine your own personal style. Disclaimer: I’m not getting paid to do this, nor do I claim to have any style sense for real.

Dress: 100 years old from I don’t know where || Leggings: Lularoe || Necklace: Charming Charlie
Up-close shot of the Hibiscus Leggings – Lularoe has independent consultants and my favorite is on Facebook. Email me for more information! (And nope, I don’t sell them or get any discount!)
Pajama Leggings or as I like to say, “Pajeggings” – love these softies for lounging around the house
Pajeggings: Kohl’s
Downtown Chicago concert with Jenny Lewis and Sarah
Dress: Lularoe || Leggings: Baby Dolls Plus || Necklaces & sunglasses from my personal collection || Shoes: Zambia Africa
Avengers leggings. Just because.
Leggings: Amazon
Charlie’s Kindergarten graduation
Leggings: Baby Dolls Plus || Shirt: Actually a dress from Kmart that I ruched up to create a shirt that matched perfectly || Black mini cardigan: Don’t remember, it’s old || Necklace: Charming Charlie
These geometric patterned leggings are soft and love the bright funky colors. Paired with a sandal, I felt dressed up enough, but also comfortable.
Pajeggings! can you tell I love comfort?
Leggings: Victoria’s Secret PINK
Nephew’s Baptism (black leggings are simple to dress up and go with everything!)
Black leggings: Vera Wang at Kohl’s || Shirt: Kohl’s || Same black mini cardigan || Bracelet: Africa || Sunglasses: old
Sunday Morning Church Style
Shirt: Irma by Lularoe || Leggings: Lularoe || Boots: Payless || Cardigan: Ancient, can’t remember || Necklace: Premier Jewelry or Lia Sophia.
From the first part of my challenge, I found leggings to be versatile and fun. I received compliments on the funky patterns and colors and no one told me to my face that they looked hideous. Win-Win! Triple bonus? I felt so ridiculously comfortable and most of the time, I felt like I was walking around in pajamas, but I felt more put together than I have in a long time.
What’s your go-to leggings style? Have a leggings story to share? I’d love to feature you! If you want to show off your leggings style, follow along and share your own on Instagram using #LeggingsWearDontCare.

I totally have those colorful snowflake “pajeggings” (Love that term, by the way. I may steal it.) from Kohl’s and I LOVE them. Soooo cozy and warm…cute too! My sisters and I all got them and wore them for Christmas morning last year!
