With spring in full swing and summer around the corner, barbecues are all the rage! We love spending hours grilling and enjoying the great outdoors. The menus we create for this season are typically light and airy and usually always incorporate some element of grilling (giving my husband a huge responsibility during the warmer months!) In an effort to spend more time with family and not working hard in the kitchen, Alexia’s new line of fries and onion rings helps to make putting together those spring and summer meals a breeze!
At a recent family barbecue, I was given the responsibility of providing the side dishes. I picked up Alexia crispy rosemary fries, crispy onion rings, and chipotle seasoned spicy sweet potato fries. While I could simply bake them up, I thought I’d incorporate them into some new recipes for a fun twist on these tasty barbecue eats. Made with all-natural ingredients and providing a range of versatile options, Alexia help to add a little pizzazz to our usual backyard fare.
First up, Rosemary Steak Fries!
This recipe combines a few simple ingredients to create something extra special. The green deliciousness is a homemade chimichurri sauce. Simply blend together 2 cups of Italian parsley, 1 cup of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of garlic salt. Add more olive oil as needed. This is also delicious over a basic steak on its own.
Bake your Alexia crispy rosemary fries at 425 degrees in the oven. Keep the fries relatively separated to ensure that they are getting crisp on all sides.
Next, grill up a thin flat steak (to your level of doneness preference) and slice into thin strips and then cubes. (This is where my husband comes in! He marinates and grills up that steak to perfection while the fries are baking).
Once the Alexia fries are completed, layer the crispy rosemary fries with the steak and cubes of feta or gorgonzola cheese. Bake at 350 degrees until cheese is bubbled and warmed. Drizzle homemade chimichurri over the completed fries to create your delicious Rosemary Steak Fries.
If you’re feeling a little sweet and sassy or you’re in charge of the dessert portion of the day’s menu, check out these delicious Spicy ‘n Sweet Potato Dessert Fries using Alexia’s chipotle seasoned sweet potato fries.
The partnership of the chipotle with the sweetness of our glaze and cinnamon sugar means these are the perfect sweet treat at the end of a long day in the sunshine.
Combine your cinnamon and sugar to create the perfect mixture. I used about 3/4 c. of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon.
Next, I coated the sweet potato fries in 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to help them crisp up and keep them from sticking together. Then melted the butter, poured it over the fries prior to baking and coated them in the cinnamon sugar.
Spread the cinnamon sugared frozen Alexia fries on a cookie sheet and bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes or so.
Lastly, it’s time for the icing! Combine 1 cup of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of half ‘n half and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract. Drizzle over completed spicy ‘n sweet potato dessert fries and enjoy!
Love these flavors, but want to mix it up a bit? Snag some Alexia crispy onion rings for a quick side dish on the go. Just bake up at 400 degrees and voila! The perfect barbecue addition.
