Birth || One || Two || Three || Four || Five
There’s something significant when your child turns an age where he no longer use one hand to show his age. When it requires the full “high-five” plus one, they suddenly seem like giants. Today, my baby turns SIX and I can hardly believe where the past six years have gone. It seems like only yesterday he was that chunky monkey winter baby full of giggles and grins.
To Charlie on your SIXTH Birthday,
It seems like only yesterday that I snuggled you so perfectly in my belly. How your long awaited arrival came on the coldest day of the year and labor that seemed like it lasted for an eternity. You were perfection.
From the time you were small, you have amazed me with your knowledge. You remind me of an adult in a small boy’s body with some of the things you say. You have a heart so big that I’m not sure there’s even one person you couldn’t love with it. You are a light to everyone you meet – you are empathetic, kind, caring, sensitive, passionate. You don’t care what other people think and I hope that is something you never change.
Your favorite colors right now are pink and purple. You found your birthday presents a week early, but are still naive enough to think they weren’t really for you. You still believe whole heartedly in Santa Claus. You LOVE salad and secretly, I think you’re a vegetarian apart from your occasional chicken consumption. You are a sucker for sweets, but you also love raw veggies. You’ve started reading chapter books and I think that basically makes you the coolest.
You love Disney Infinity, math and learning. You have the best time when you hang around all your cousins and you LOVE egging Jack on. You are an amazing helper and pick up on just about everything you see and hear. You love listening to Meghan Trainor, Pentatonix and Taylor Swift in the car. If you could sleep with your art supplies, you would.
May you always feel life as strongly in those moments as you do for eternity. You are a beautiful gift to this world and to our family. You made me a mother and for that, I am forever grateful. May you always know just how special and loved you are.
Happy Birthday, Charlie Bear!
Love, Mommy
