A few weekends ago, I headed over to Raging Waves Waterpark in Yorkville to visit for the first time with my sister-in-law and nephew. As Illinois’ Largest Waterpark, we were eager to give the water amusements a spin, especially on a warm weather day. Open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Raging Waves offers a schedule that’s perfect for a summer day of fun in the sun!
The park itself emerges out of acres of corn fields. I was impressed at the size of the entire space – HUGE rides and slides and nothing in the way but blue skies!
With plenty to do for kids of all ages, we found that most of our time was spent at Kangaroo Falls and Koala Kove designed with little ones in mind. The slides were small enough for them, but large enough to feel like a big adventure and the HUGE bucket that cascades down with water was something that both surprised and delighted! The park circle well over 1 million gallon of water daily and uses a unique filtration system, so in the event of a bathroom accident, only small portions of the park where it happened need to be shut down.
Jack’s favorite part was these blue slides. He went up and down them over and over and over again.
Jack’s not as adventurous as he looks and had to be with his buddy every time he tackled this yellow one at Koala Kove.

Want to make a day of it? Check out their Family Four Pack that feeds you and gets you in the water! We found the food to be delicious and economical. Especially the ice cream. One of my favorite elements of the park is that they don’t sell alcohol. With a faith-based name, they opt to create a fun family atmosphere with rides, amusements, and other forms of entertainment. You can guarantee good wholesome family fun!
Love the idea of fun and the sun, but waterparks aren’t your thing? They also have new attractions and shows such as Sinbad and the Search for the Golden Pineapple with death-defying stunts. The giant sandbox is also perfect for burying your favorite family member.
Overall, we had an absolute blast and found that with little ones, we only got through about half the attractions, like Kookaburra Kreek. I highly recommend this for a day out in the Chicagoland area and plan ahead to go during the week where you will likely face less crowds as well! Get there early to stake claim to the coveted covered beach chairs.

Important note: PLEASE wear and reapply sunscreen. After this day, I suffered a wicked burn and resorted to home remedies to cure my reddened back. Be safe and cautious, especially with little ones.
