As a part-time working mom with two little fellas, life can be a bit hectic. Whether I’m carting little ones to and from activities or preschool or working on freelance projects, balancing motherhood can be a difficult and tiring act. As the evenings wind down and the littles are snuggled up in footed pajamas, I usually find myself zoning out on Facebook, plugging in the same old movies, or moving the heaps of laundry over to have a space on the couch. On the nights I get together with friends, we usually meet up somewhere or sneak away to a movie.
Lucky for me, when friend meet-ups are out of the question, either for convenience or money’s sake, I discovered NickMom. What I love about NickMom is the fact that I can see myself in the characters and know that if I haven’t made every element of our day Pinteresting, I haven’t failed as a human being.
Recently, I had the chance to check out Instant Mom with Tia Mowry-Hardrict, airing new episodes on Sundays, and every night during NickMom programming. With some time away from our kiddos and a moment to sip, enjoy, and just relax, laughing over a television show did wonders for our tired mood! A mom to three kids in an instant, Tia tackles motherhood with grace and #MotherFunny humor.
In preparation for our big night, I doled out two drinks that you can re-create at home easily. I also advise using fancy glasses. You know the ones stuck in the cabinet about the refrigerator that stick slightly as you open the doors since you haven’t opened them in years months. I suggest pajamas, fuzzy slippers, and big ol’ blankets. Nothing says chill out more than fleece!
Lose Your Marbles Mixer
Sprite or 7-Up
Pomegranate Cherry Juice (100% blend – just take the one from your kids)
A small bag of skittles
Sugar
Mix equal parts sprite & juice. Don’t shake too hard or you’ll have to mop. Again. Rim your favorite glass with sugar. Pour until almost overflowing. Drop in mommy’s “marbles” aka Skittles as a special surprise at the bottom. Drink, enjoy! For an extra oomph, add in some of your favorite white wine or Moscato. The lighter the variety, the better.
This drink is best sipped when you’ve had a long day and you can’t seem to find your marbles anywhere.
Mommy Pick-Me-Up!
Coffee Creamer (French Vanilla)
1 cup of your favorite brewed coffee (I used my Keurig)
8 ice cubes
Whipped cream, frozen
Brew coffee. Place ice cubes and 1/4 c. creamer in your preferred glass. Pour in 1/2 c. HOT coffee. Don’t stir! Top with a scoop of frozen whipped cream (A+ if you use ice cream) and finish off with a swirly straw and cupcake wrappers that you attempted to make look like a flower. For an extra oomph, add in Bailey’s Irish Cream or Kahlua.
This drink is best when all you’ve heard all day long is “Mommy, PICKMEUP!” I advise use of the non-alcoholic version early and often.
Don’t let the fun stop at your drinks. One of my favorite chatter games to play when hanging out with friends is Would You Rather? Take turns making up crazy scenarios and seeing just how desperate you and your friends will get when in tough situations! Sample questions for your own Would You Rather:
Live without coffee or without Diet Coke?
Change a poopy diaper or clean up vomit?
Not have to make dinner for a week or not have to take care of the laundry (knowing that they would be taken care of for you?)
Stay up late or wake up early?
Teach your teenager how to drive or teach them mathematics?
Dance in Walmart or Sing in Target?
Clean the bathroom or the kitchen?
Exercise or eat cake? (Trick question: Eating cake IS exercise since you’d have to get off the couch to get it.)
How do you like to unwind after a long day? Do you kick up your gams or entice your taste buds?
NickMom airs new episodes of Instant Mom on the Nick Jr. channel every Sunday at 10:00 pm EST and reruns can be viewed every night. Please check your local listing or this link to confirm the time in your specific time zone.

OMG YOU HAVE THE MUGS THAT GO WITH MY DISHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (sorry for the excessive punctuation!) My step mom and dad got those dishes for us for Christmas a few years back, but they found them at a mis-match store so we only got 4 large plates, 4 small plates, and a platter. No bowls, no mugs. I’m crazy jealous! (SEND THEM TO MEEEEEEE!)
OK, after all that, looks like you guys had a really nice, cozy time! I’d love one of those drinks to help me get to sleep. Crap, I’d like one of those drinks rightnow, because if my kids bug me one more time, I’m calling an exterminator.

A fascinating discussion is definitely worth comment.
I believe that you should publish more on this subject, it might not
be a taboo subject but usually people do not discuss such issues.
To the next! Best wishes!!

First off I would like to say terrific blog! I had a quick question that
I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your head before writing.
I have had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my ideas
out. I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the
first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost just trying to figure out how
to begin. Any ideas or tips? Many thanks!

I’m not sure exactly why but this blog is loading incredibly slow for me.
Is anyone else having this problem or is it a issue on my end?
I’ll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.
