While Charlie headed off to preschool, Jackie D. and I took a little field trip to Orland Square Mall to check out Build-A-Bear Workshop.
Jack meticulously picked out his honey -colored bear and then set to work stuffing him up!
Each element of the experience is perfectly designed with kids in mind. The opening screen where we enter the bear’s information & Jack’s name is much like an oversized iPad that allowed Jack to drag personality traits and learn more about his new friend. The stuffing station was one of Jack’s favorites and he saw just how squishy he could make his bear. Next up – bath time! With sensitivity of a touch screen again, Jack scrubbed Mr. Bear and watched the duckies swim around. He had a blast exploring each new area of the store.
Time to Accessorize! From scents to make your bear smell soothing to outfits, including the recent addition of Halloween costumes, you can find just about everything you’re looking for, including high heels for new lady bear friends. In fact, some of these bears were better dressed than me! I love the fact that you can customize the bear for the season, event and holiday. My husband and I actually made a bride & groom bear in anticipation of our wedding and had them “walk” down the aisle with our niece & nephews.
Meet SpiderBear! Jack’s newest friend & companion.
We had a blast creating our new friend. The process was simple, fun, and easy-to-follow. At a little under three years old, Jack really loved creating and finding the perfect outfit. He was a bit surprised when we walked out the door without the small light saber for his bear…perhaps we’ll be making a return trip!
Have you made a stuffed buddy at Build-A-Bear? What kind of outfits do you think you’d want to buy?

I haven’t actually taken my kids to Build a Bear. Gabriel got one as a baby from his Uncle and a friend took Cadence to make one, but slacker mom hasn’t taken her kids at all.

Ha! I hardly ever bring them at the same time because it’s too hectic. He had quite a bit of fun though. You should take them soon, ‘slacker’ mom!
