Twenty-eight years ago, God blessed this Earth with someone I never knew I needed until she was born five days before I turned three. Did you know that there are human beings made of glitter, gossamer, rainbows, & sunshine? I mean, their complete genetic makeup is entirely glass-half-full type mentality – the ones who pick you up when you’re down, cry with you, and spend eternity loving you without an expectation for anything in return.
With two brothers, I asked the question often, “Can I have a sister?” and my parents shrugged it off (as I now understand as I shirk off the incessant requests from my boys for the same thing). But something happened that I never anticipated and she walked into my life.
The one I couldn’t imagine not speaking to daily – via text, message, call, email, you name it, the biggest champion.
The special gem who buys bright pink microphones for my boys and encourages them sing & shout loudly in public despite scowls from nearby shoppers.
The ballerina who dances in the aisles of a Target, spinning carts, acting silly because life just rocks, and how better to show the two littlest loves of my life that than to lead by example.
The lover of all humanity so deeply that she sees the positive and pursues her dreams to be a better attribute to this planet. To leave a footprint that is so deep, so full, and so her.
Known as Sera Cupcakes by Charlie & Jack who at 4 and 2 totally understand just how awesome she is.
If you haven’t met her, you’re missing out.
See what I mean? Always looking at the up side.
And I’m lucky enough to call her sister. So thankful that God knew what He was doing long before I ever asked.
Happy 28th Birthday, Sera Rose! The world is better for having you in it.
