We received a sampling of Puritan’s Pride products to put to the test. All opinions shared are our own.
Finding ways to infuse natural back into your home is becoming easier than ever. We’ve tackled our laundry room in the past, but I decided to revamp the recipe once I learned of Puritan’s Pride and their Tea Tree Oil. If you make homemade laundry detergent, this is the perfect addition to that recipe. If you don’t, give it a try! Save some money and do it naturally!
Revamped Homemade Laundry Detergent
Ingredients
4 lb. box Baking Soda (orange box on the left)
4 lb. box Super Washing Soda (yellow box)
4 lb. box of Borax (white box)
3 bars of Fel Naptha soap (small bars on the right – pink & hunter green)
You will need a large container for mixing and a storage container for general use. I’m lucky enough that my mom had THE perfect container to use!
Step 1: Grate the bars of Fel Naptha soap (I used a regular cheese grater and then washed it very well).
Step 2: Add the three boxes of other ingredients. Be wary of some of the power flying up and be sure that no children are around in case of excessive powder dust!
Step 3: Add in about 8 drops of tea tree oil for additional scent & cleansing power. This is also the perfect addition to a cloth diaper load to keep those diapers smelling fresh (without stripping any of the water resistant qualities of the PUL).
Step 4: Store in a container until you are ready to use. For general washing, approximately 2 tablespoons will be perfect!
And that’s it! Revamped homemade laundry detergent with the added punch of Tea Tree Oil!
The laundry is just one example of an area of your home that you can definitely go the more natural route in. I also use Puritan’s Pride products for a variety of other uses. Puritan’s Pride was founded over 40 years ago and makes quality nutritional supplements and maintains a commitment to quality. They’ve added to their repertoire and in addition to vitamins and supplements, they also sell health-concious options as it relates to health & beauty, food & snacks, pets, aromatherapy, coffee & tea, and more! The best part is they have a satisfaction guarantee, so if you don’t love it, then send it back!
Sun Protection
little twig Extra Mild Unscented Sunscreen
Perfect for the littlest skin in your home, this sunscreen is water-resistant, paba & paraben free, non-greasy and doesn’t irritate their skin. Applying it is quick and easy and we aren’t overpowered by some pungent smell!
Kiss My Face Oat Protein Complex Sunscreen
Ultra-moisturizing and water-resistant, this sunscreen contains the additional benefits of oat protein while still maintaining its natural qualities. I always arm myself with both of these before I head out the door whether it’s to the beach or just playing in the backyard. The additional key is REAPPLY!
With our fair skin, we can still burn relatively quickly. This moisturizing lotion is great for those bad burns or even slight sun-kissing. Not only does it keep your skin moisturized, but it really removed the sting and pain that goes with it!
Health & Beauty
Fragrance free, this cream is a great addition to your face beauty routine. As a mom with tired eyes, this brings relief, moisturizes my skin, but doesn’t make me feel like it’s an oil slick afterwards. I have extremely sensitive skin, especially on my face, and the odorless quality is definitely a big plus.
This oil is perfect to add to a candle, dab around your house or my personal favorite, toss a few into the evening bath after a long day. The scents are relaxing, soothing, and help to set the tone of bedtime for the whole family. I highly recommend essential oils and this is one of my favorites.
