A lesser known fact about me is that I own almost every season of the Golden Girls on DVD.
An obsession that was only heightened in college, these four beauties always seemed to capture our attention with their humor and quick-wit. I usually identified with Sophia (although I wasn’t the oldest in the crew). We would spend many late nights enjoying watching the Golden years through the eyes of these comediennes.
I’ve always had a soft spot for the older generation – my work at a retirement home solidified this and I quickly developed friendships with some of my favorites. I saw the good and the bad of getting older. I saw when families were loving and visited often and I was often saddened when holidays were empty of visitors. After marrying my high school sweetheart, I can only hope that this is us in another 60 years as we grow old together:
And I can only hope that at the ripe old age of 90 we’re still sharing household chores the way Morty & Lee are! (I use Swiffer products now and LOVE the ease of use and how much easier daily household chores are made by using them.)
