I’ve been trying to be a bit more deliberate about actually trying things that I find on Pinterest. I stumbled across this recipe for homemade goldfish crackers and new I had to give them a try (since my boys LOVE those little fish)! I followed her recipe almost completely so be sure to check it out! Here’s how I think they turned out:
The finished product
On its side – puffed up quite a bit, so not very FLAT!
He literally FLIPPED when I no longer offered samples.
Aren’t they cute?
Some thoughts:
I made a fish cookie cutter out of a soda can as well. It worked very well, but I found it very small and took FOREVER, so eventually, I just used a pizza cutter and created Cheez Its. Good enough.
I used a mix of sharp and mild cheddar because it’s what I had and that worked well. I also didn’t include the onion powder and didn’t notice anything that different.
These did seem slightly chewy, but I cooked them the full time and the boys GOBBLED them up. Even though they weren’t quite as crunchy as I preferred, they are perfect for the little fellas.
Finally, roll that dough VERY thin. They puff up, so you don’t want to have anything too thick otherwise it may not look right.
Hope you enjoy and don’t be afraid to experiment with different cheeses!!
