Vacation Wardrobe

Remember when I talked about being Fashion Challenged?  I issued myself a challenge to put thought and care into my clothing choices at least five times a week and document that via Instagram.  Just days after I posted that, we headed on vacation and I knew I could still do posts while I was gone, but that my wardrobe would be seriously limited. Here’s what I came up with ::

The short answer is – I did it! I kept up with actually putting together outfits and think I did a fairly good job.

Day 1. Airplane travel

Layers! From a cold to warm climate, I tried to be mindful. I threw on jeans, a tank, long-sleeved top, and a new favorite thin hoodie. Shoes were basic slip-ons and I added a necklace to tie it together. Easy enough!

Day 2. Fancy Evening Dinner

Our first reservations for dinner needed to be special, so I slipped on this basic cotton sundress from Target (tucked the halter part in), threw on a black shawl, and added a rhinestone necklace. Shoes were flip-flops because the suitcase doesn’t accommodate heels.

Day 3. Casual Night Out

I took another basic dress and added the shawl from Day 2. Two necklaces – one silver and one black make this outfit a cinch!

Day 4. Beach Combing

Belted empire waist dress, off the shoulder. Long and flowing is my kind of style. Covered with a light crocheted shawl in coordinating colors and finish it off with a bronze pendant. Voila!

Day 5. Sayonara Dinner

Paired dress from Day 2 with shawl from Day 4. One of the necklaces from Day 3 and a fresh flower from the garden by the pool.

Vacation style doesn’t need to be limited to the same two outfits in rotation. Consider bringing solid pieces that mix and match with everything else and you can have interchangeable outfits without packing your suitcase full. (At least that’s what I told myself as I zipped it up!)
