Two years ago, I was very pregnant with our second miracle and was preparing myself for a scheduled c-section. Just like his personality, Jack came onto the scene quickly and on his timetable – two days early! After insisting for days to the doctor that I felt like I was in labor, it finally culminated in a ride to the hospital riddled with contractions, frantically calling my mom to meet us there, and saying a quick goodbye to my first-born.
Just two hours after getting to the hospital, he made his grand entrance.
To my Jackie,
There is not one day that goes by that you don’t make me belly laugh or make me want to crawl into the fetal position for someone to hold me while I wait out your crazy antics. You are fearless, a risk-taker, and you feel all emotions to the depths of your being. You give some of the best hugs – complete with wraparound arms, slobbery kisses, and loud MWAH sounds. You hold on for an extra second, squeeze with a little extra oomph and love to express yourself through your hands (both in good and bad ways).
You LOVE Super Why. You know your letters, numbers, colors, and you are so crazy smart – it’s scary. You think you’re six years old – you want to do everything the big kids do. When things don’t work out the way you want them to, you get really really angry – and sometimes, that makes me laugh too.
You are athletic – climbing, jumping, running, hopping – you’re excitement is contagious. You love your brother, much of the time, and you want to do everything he does (which causes it’s share of conflict). You are a great helper – with the laundry, cooking, and occasionally cleaning.
After two years, you are finally spreading your wings. You can now be babysat or left in the church nursery without screaming or crying your eyes out. You love playing with friends and you LOVE to dance! (Current faves are Gangnam Style and Smooth Criminal).
Your crazy head of hair gets commentary wherever we go although you will be getting a trim soon. You’ve recently taken a strong liking to daddy and you love to scream our names to come and get you in the morning out of your crib. You are an early riser, a decent sleeper, and you still take one nap a day – usually. You have enjoyed having mommy to yourself some mornings, but you are just as excited to see Charlie when we pick him up.
You’re language is EXPLODING! You tell us you’re “nuts!” and you like to repeat what we see or at least try to. You love playing Just Dance, lining up puzzle pieces, and snuggling with your blankie. You are two going on sixteen and we couldn’t imagine life without you.
Every day is an adventure with you, Jackie Dean, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Love,
Mommy
Jack shares his special day with his Auntie Jessica! We love you!
