I helped out with Charlie’s first ever party at his preschool this year. The ideas from moms were pretty creative and I thought I’d share a few ideas to “fancy” up your own Halloween gathering. These are quick and easy ways to make a party festive and provide snacks for your guests.
Frankenstein Krispy
What you need: 6 c. Rice Krispies, Pull n Peel Twizzlers, Pretzel Sticks, Mini-Marshmallows, Melting Chocolate, Green Food Coloring, 4 c. mini marshmallows, 3 tbsp. butter or butter replacement (like Earth’s Balance)
Melt butter & marshmallows on stovetop. Add green food coloring. Add mixture to Rice Krispies and stir with buttered spatula. Spread and let set (cool and slightly firm). Melt chocolate for the hair and decorate accordingly. (Yummy and smiley!)
Ghoulish Mouths
What you need: Apples cut into slices, mini marshmallows, honey or peanut butter
Slice apples and spread with PB or honey. Place marshmallows and connect the apples. We used honey because of nut allergies.
Mummified Juice
What you need: Juice boxes, googly eyes (craft store), and white duct tape
Remove straws and put to the side, still sealed. Cut duct tape and shred into strips accordingly. Wrap those mummies up! Serve with straws beside. BE SURE TO LEAVE THE STRAW’S HOLE FREE FROM TAPE.
Oreo Spiders
What you need: Oreos, pretzel sticks, edible Wilton decorator eyes
Open up the Oreo and place eight sticks (unlike the six here…) Place eyes on the front and seal with the other side of the cookie. Enjoy! This is also a great classroom “craft” for the kids to enjoy assembling.
