For Charlie:
Hi Buddy!
I can hardly believe that today was your first day of Preschool. It is amazing to me just how quickly you’ve grown and have shown just how ready you are! You asked Daddy to carry you up near the building, I snapped a few pictures and then you were on your way. I stopped to drop you at your classroom and grab this month’s calendar. Ms. C knelt to your level and talked to you a bit. Then you waited with a fellow classmate for the others to arrive. A cubby for your backpack (that is huge by the way) and some rainboots ready for outdoor play, I couldn’t help but feel peace for our decision to send you here. When a complete change of clothes (including socks) is required for possibly muddiness, you know you’ve come to the right place.
You wave to us from the steps as you waited for our car to pick you up. You yelled our names and I couldn’t help but beam. Ms. C said, “He did fantastic!” and you jumped into the car. The first thing you told us was that “We went on an adventure!” You talked about pinecones, pretzels for snack, apple juice, and two new friends – Soya (sic?) and Jack. You also talked about how they cried. A lot. You were happy to head home with us, but you were also eager to go back on Thursday.
Welcome to your newest adventure! The best is yet to come.
Love, Mommy
Mommy Recap:
I cried after last night’s posting. I cried on the way there. But when you stepped out of the car, so happy and ready, I realized I was ready too. You had a blast and I know this was the perfect decision for you.
Jack slept through the drop-off and for now, doesn’t know the difference. But you talked fondly of how the boy Jack in your class has the same name as your brother (and you also said this Jack hit you, not sure how true that must be…) We started the day watching different kids walk up with their flowers for teachers, some without. I noticed all the pick-up cars were mini-vans or SUVs and realized just what kind of world we had entered.
A beautiful day and the perfect start of something new.

Hitting those milestones is so bittersweet, isn’t it? On the one hand you’re sad to see you baby growing up, but happy that you’ve helped them grow to be the child who’s ready for new things! Here’s to a great year!
Samantha says
It’s VERY bittersweet! He’s gotten SO big and VERY quickly. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Adorable!! I know it is hard to watch them take those steps of independence, but it is so rewarding to watch them grow into the people they are meant to be.
Samantha says
Definitely true….he’s already loving it, just two days in! Hoping he continues to have a heart for learning! Thanks for stopping by!

EEK! I was very terrified at first, but I can already tell he LOVES it! Glad to know other mommas survive that first year of preschool. 😉
