A few weeks ago, I had the chance to head out to Wheaton at Kirlin’s Hallmark for a private concert with Cody Simpson (barely known by me prior to this). Promoting the debut of text bands (his new line of them comes out in November!) Since I don’t have girls of my own, I invited by sister-in-law, her sister (age 13), and her niece (age 8). They anxiously waited in line to see him and then were ushered inside for a private 3-song concert. Then, they headed over for some one on one pictures and side hugs {{swoon}}. I don’t think they stopped floating all night…
But onto the more important stuff – Text Bands! Hallmark’s new Text Bands are a cool, fun, new way for kids to text with their friends. The band allows you to create messages with up to 10 characters. It could be a word, a feeling, your nickname, something you love, a secret — anything! You can type up to 10 characters using letters, numbers and punctuation. There is no “space” character; however, you can use punctuation characters such as hyphens ( – ), periods ( . ) or colons ( : ) to separate words. The band also contains a bad word filter. Now you’re ready to trade messages! Find a friend with a Text Band and bump fists, high five, shake hands, or create your own special style! Your messages will swap and appear on each other’s Text Bands.
The girls had a great time and really loved the bands! Ava (age 8) thought they were fun and easy to use. Abby (age 13) liked that she could privately trade messages with friends. I think these are perfect for pre-cell phone age and saves parents from ridiculously expensive texting plans. Kids can be kids and have fun with their secret messages. {I also like that these aren’t limited to girl colors and patterns! Plenty of options to choose for the boys in your life as well!}

My children would love these! They would send hi just to make sure they work first.
