With each of our boys, from the moment we found out we were pregnant, Jim has read to them, even while in the womb. While it may have seemed silly at first, his voice was eventually greeted with kicks, turns, and thumps. Then, when they arrived, their recognition of his voice was uncanny and it was a great way for them to connect. Since then, daddy has undertaken quite the bedtime ritual, reading each of them three to four books a night. Charlie now reads some of the books TO us. So when I was offered the chance to review some new and fresh books from Parragon, I jumped at the chance.
A little about Parragon from their site:
We focus on illustrated, non-author driven, non-fiction books. Our books are of the highest quality while still maintaining mainstream accessibility. We don’t publish books just because a trendy author pens them; we publish books that offer unbelievable value both in terms of content and quality.
Our main publishing areas are cookbooks, adult non-fiction, children’s books and licensed character books. Within these publishing areas we publish under our own Parragon brand; under in-house brands such as Love Food or Goldstars; or under retailers’ own proprietary brands. We create books for beloved characters such as Disney, Dora the Explorer, Ben 10, Discovery Kids, Power Rangers, Barbie, Sesame Street and Marvel.
Night Night Shaped Foam Book {Little Learners}
Simple and with muted colors, this soft book is perfect for early readers – babies! With thick, easy-to-turn pages, this book makes a great gift or stocking stuffer for the littlest one in your crew!
Animals Touch and Feel Board Book {Little Learners}
I LOVE touch and feel books – full of different textures, shapes and fabrics. The colors are beautiful, the words are simple, and the pages are durable (sure to stand the test of toddler time!) This was definitely a favorite for our boys.
I Can Share Slide & See {Little Learners}
With reading that is a bit more advanced (think pre-k/kindergarten), this large-word book has some great slide tabs that provide additional story information. It’s also fun for kids to take turns pulling the tabs and learn more about what’s happening in the story. Once again, the quality of the book is great for this age – thick, durable, and a cover that is easily washable. I’ve also found that the pull-out tabs have survived….so far!
I highly recommend these books and can see them lasting a long time. They also make a perfect baby shower or birthday gift – a wide variety and extensive reading levels collection.
