Once people meet my boys, one of the biggest comments I receive is just how different they are. Charlie is quiet, reserved, and conservative with his actions. Jack is loud, a yeller, and enjoys taking risks (much to my heart’s chagrin). I recently had the opportunity to check out Little Monsters Gear.
Launched by two Chicago women entrepreneurs, Little Monsters Gear helps to capture the essence of your little one through a cute monster! Placed on a shirt, onezee, bib or burp cloth, you can choose the monster that best suits your little one’s personality. The clothing is made with 100% pre-shrunk cotton and comes in sizes up through 5T.
For the monster choices, you can go the fierce route which features monsters in bright vibrant colors or the gentle route which has the same monsters, but a bit more muted in color palette. One of my favorite features of the site is the ability to have your build their own monster. Your child can essentially create art that is later memorialized in clothing! What a fun and unique idea!
For Jack, I went the fierce route and wound up with Tank.
Site Description
“Tank is both fearless and daring! This monster loves any and all the monster sports he tries! His fearless attitude and quick moves help him find success with each sport he tries. Tank’s rough exterior also offers protection for the physical activities ahead of him. This monster has a competitive nature and a knack for turning just about anything into a competition. He often races the other monsters to school and is the reigning champ with paper toss at recess. Don’t be surprised when this monster arrives with bumps and bruises- Tank seems to think he’s invincible. Also, don’t let his rough exterior fool you, this monster has a soft side and requires lots of love and affection. Tank feeds off the affections and encouragement of others.”
If that doesn’t fit Jack to a T{shirt}, then I don’t know what does.
For Charlie, I went the gentler route and wound up with Bubba.
Site Description
“Bubba is the laid back monster who thoughtfully observes before jumping in with the others. Bubba seems to be an old soul in a little monster body. It is clear that although Bubba may be quiet, this monster is always aware of what is going on. Take special notice when Bubba’s eyes get that extra sparkle in them, this is a sure sign that Bubba has thought of something clever! All the other monsters love being close to Bubba because this monster is a delight to be around and seems to enjoy everything. Even though this monster does not demand the attention, be sure to give Bubba extra attention and love!”
Charlie loved his little monster and I’d love to have him design one in the future. The shirts were soft and the sizes were perfect (4T for Charlie, 2T for Jack). I like the fact that the stories are included on a tag with the shirt, so for gift-giving, the recipient has a complete history of their monster. You could snag a onezee, bib, and burp cloth to make the perfect set for a baby shower and I love the fact that you’re doing something customized (AND helping a local business)!
