This was a Baby Bee Themed Baby Shower for my sister in law, Lindsey! She wants the sex of the baby to be a suprise, so we thought this was a great theme alternative to the normal gender neutral options.
We had the shower at Mimi’s Cafe. They were great! They actually personalized an 8 item menu for us. Each menu read ‘Congratulations Mommy-To-Bee, Lindsey!’ There food was amazing! As an alternative to a cake, i did one of my candy buffets (of course!) It included theme coordinating cupcakes, pecan caramel fudge, marshmallow pops, candied pretzels, chocolate covered raisins, junior mints, lemon starbursts, banana laffy taffy, a hershey nuggets mix with personalized wrappers, and candy sticks! Was so yummy! Not only was it a fabulous centerpiece, our friends and family had a lot of fun making up there candy bags!
Jasmine, Nicole’s daughter, also made special flower-topped pens out of duct tape for the baby shower games. (Holler to my fellow Justin Bieber lover!)
I really didn’t set a budget but I don’t buy anything unless it’s a steal! Using coupons, making my own favors and doing my candy buffet, we (my mother in law and I) didn’t spend crazily. For the baby shower game winner’s gifts, I waited until Kohl’s had great sales and used coupons on top of it! I bought 6 very nice gifts that should have cost about $200, but with my coupons and sales, I only spent about $20! For the gift bags for these gifts, I bought plain yellow and black paper bags and decorated them myself with clearance items I found at Michaels! I also made the diaper cakes myself using walmart brand diapers (cakes all together were only about $15!) All in all, if you make the stuff yourself, you’ll save tons! For the venue, we looked around for the best per guest price. Mimi’s was all around the best! All together with the food and all decorations etc. This party cost about $500. Not bad at all!
