Starring James Cromwell, Bailee Madison (young Snow White in one of my favorite shows, Once Upon a Time), Alicia Witt, and Jackson Rathbone, Cowgirls N’ Angels is a heartwarming movie that tells the story of Ida, a feisty and rebellious young girl, who has dreams of finding her father, a rodeo rider. While searching for her dad, she connects with the Sweethearts of the Rodeo, a team of young female rodeo riders run by former rodeo star Terence Parker. Recognizing Ida’s innate talent for trick riding, Terence recruits her for their ranks. Accepted wholeheartedly by her new “family,” Ida finds a new passion that redefines her life, and may also help her find the father she’s been searching for.
I had the opportunity to preview the movie before it hits theaters today – May 25th! A family movie that hits just under ninety minutes is the perfect length for little ones. Your daughters (and I venture even sons) will love the action and art of the riding tricks and stunts and parents will love the message behind the story. The story didn’t feel bogged down with seriousness and Bailee does a great job as young Ida. Nowadays, when it’s hard to find a family movie out in theaters, Cowgirls ‘N Angels delivers without going the animated route. I found that the storyline was well played-out and the characters were sympathetic. I think, especially, if your little girl loves horses, she will love catching this on the big screen!
I was provided a sneak peek viewing of this film in exchange for my honest review and introduction of this film.
