With the emergence of reports on cancer-causing chemicals in Johnson & Johnson products and the ever-increasing interest in eating organically and ditching processed foods, I, like many other parents, have my own concerns about what we use in our home, what we consume, and how we teach our children to respect and nurture the earth. Enter the green piece. In this weekly feature, I hope to tackle becoming green{ish} as a continuing process to improve myself, our family, and the world around us.
Covering any and everything natural, I’ll be exploring topics that directly relate to today’s families when it comes to getting back to nature. As with anything, I don’t expect to transform into a 100% crunchy momma tomorrow, but I would like to make some significant progress in this area of green! I’m excited about this new venture and I hope you are too! If you have ideas for a topic or would like to know more about a topic, let me know and I’ll do my best to cover it in the coming weeks!

When looking to get back to the basics of Mother Nature, there is no better place to start than when becoming a mother yourself! I felt my best (both inside and out) when I was pregnant with my boys and I believe this is in large part because of how much I tried to take care of my body. From the moment I found out I was pregnant, I began trying to eat the right foods, staying active, and limiting my weight gain where I could! After suffering three miscarriages myself, I also believe that losing weight and getting my health on track is what helped me to get pregnant and go on two have two successful pregnancies.
Although I didn’t know much about Whole Foods Market during my pregnancy, the boys and I actually attended an Easter Egg hunt at our local Whole Foods this past week and I fell in love with the store! For those of you locally, Orland Park will be getting their store this Fall! From its aisles of healthy options and rows and rows of a variety of fruits and vegetables, Whole Foods can really be a mom’s dream! Whole Foods also happens to be home to Green Babies products which we love!
For many women, getting pregnant—or trying to—is the definitive time to move toward a healthier lifestyle. Throughout May, shoppers can look to Whole Foods Market’s Whole Body departments and the company’s Whole Story blog for simple ideas — from homeopathy to healthy pregnancy preparation tips.
Podcast summaries are included below. May also happens to be Pregnancy Awareness Month and the Whole Story blog will feature two great informative podcasts for moms and women! The first podcast will go live on May 13th and you can find them here starting then.
