While I don’t have the opportunity to read often, my recent readings of The Hunger Games triology has had me thinking about picking up a few new books to read. I recently had the chance to read the second novel, The Forgiven Duke, in a set of books known as The Forgotten Castle Series by Jamie Carie.
While I don’t have the opportunity to read often, my recent readings of The Hunger Games triology has had me thinking about picking up a few new books to read. I recently had the chance to read the second novel, The Forgiven Duke, in a set of books known as The Forgotten Castle Series by Jamie Carie.
Set in the Regency-era, this second book in the series continues the story as created in The Guardian Duke. Having not read the first book, I was concerned that I would not be able to connect with the story, but after diving in, I was able to get a good grasp as to how the first story unfolded. Caught between finding her parents in Iceland and remaining loyal to Lord John Lemon or seeking her Guardian Duke, the Duke of St. Easton, Alexandria Featherstone leads us on an interesting tale of mystery, romance, and adventure.
With a Christian background and author perspective, this book touches on religious themes, morality, and Christian thought. Even if you do not come from a religious background or Christian worldview, the book still maintains a terrific story line that will keep you on your toes and leaving you wanting to know what happens in the third installment.
The writing and descriptions in this book help the story come alive and paint the characters in a way that I appreciate in any great read. Carie paints vivid pictures for your imagination that give you a glimpse into the life and times of Ms. Featherstone. Mystery, intrigue, torture, murder, romance and love culminate in The Forgotten Castle series and The Forgiven Duke will have you asking for more.
The Forgiven Duke by Jamie Carie will be released this summer, July 2012, but have a chance at your own copy here! Simply fill out the Rafflecopter form below to win your very own copy!
