Welcome to the very first edition of Party Planning Showcase {PPS} here at The Peanuts Gang!
After seeing the cute & creative party ideas of friends, I decided to feature a party every Monday to show off how they know how to par-tay! If you are interested in being featured in the future, shoot me an email and we can arrange that!
Up first is a fabulous new interweb friend, Megan! Megan’s website is adorable, she’s recently started her own business, AND she’s expecting her first baby (a little girl!) in the next few weeks! Here she talks about the great gender reveal party she threw to announce their fun news!

What type of event did you plan/attend and for who?
A gender reveal party to share with our friends the gender of our first baby
How far in advance did you begin planning and how did you decide on a theme?
As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I knew I wanted to do something special for our family and friends to let them know whether we were having a boy or a girl. We found out the gender at twenty weeks, so I had about 16 weeks to think about it. We didn’t really have a theme, but we used tons of pink & blue color combos with a hint of owls.
Where did you get some of your ideas for the decor/food?
None other than the lovely pinterest 🙂
What was your favorite part of the party and/or party-planning process?
The whole thing was a blast! My favorite part was def watching everyone get involved and debate over what they thought the nugget was. We had our guests vote for boy/girl and then help us choose middle names from each gender we selected. We also encouraged people to wear pink or blue to indicate their vote! Getting guests involved is crucial for any party!
What was your least favorite part?
The stresses of when! We didn’t want to wait to reveal our secret to the world, so we had it the night of our appointment. It kind of put me in a bind, but it was a day of fun, for sure! Getting my home ready was kinda scary, too. We had just moved in two weeks prior, and were in a mad rush to get it presentable. The parted kinda acted like a “come see our new home” party, too!
With regards to a budget, did you set one and if so, do you think you stayed within it or went over?
I didn’t set a budget per se, but I did watch my money. I had a friend do the cake for us, found a local who did cookies out of her home, asked family to bring a few things, and made all my own decorations out of paper and tissue paper. For drinks we did kool-aid, crystal light, and water – super budget friendly. I also made the invitations myself, and used walgreens.com to print them off. I hand delivered most of them, and mailed a few!
