If I could stuff the perfect day into a two hour span of time, it would be how spent the two hours after daddy came home from work yesterday. With a cranky, not quite himself baby, dinner didn’t get made. Daddy swooped in at 6:02 p.m. and by 6:10 p.m, we were out the door, diaper bag, baseball mitt, and all. Now mind you, it’s MARCH. And the temperature today? A record – setting 80-something degrees. Which means at 6 p.m., we were still in the 70s. Our first stop was the park!
We then headed to Downtown LaGrange for a walk, The Hot Dog Company that Jim wanted to try, and ice cream. The walk was beautiful, Jim said the dogs were delish (this will be a repeat for us in the future) and Charlie enjoyed a kid-sized bowl of chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce, gummy bears, and M&Ms – his choice. We opted to watch him eat it…without any bites or leftovers for us!
One of my favorite moments from tonight was hearing Jim tell me something Charlie had said to Jim while finishing his ice cream, “You make me happy. Thank you for making me happy.” Charlie repeated this sentiment in the car to both of us. And it’s nights like these that make being a parent just perfect.

That final paragraph brought tears to my eyes. <3 little guys
A month or so ago was the first time Oliver said, “I love you,” unprompted. He gave me a kiss and said, “Uff you, Mommy.”
