One of my favorite facts about my life is that I married my high school sweetheart. March 6th marks TWELVE years together. We have been together longer than my niece has been alive (by 22 days to be exact) and I could not imagine my life any other way. Some interesting tidbits about our life together thus far:
~Our first official ‘meeting’ alone was at Huck Finn Restaurant in Oak Lawn. We went there approximately one more time after that first date and when we did, Jim “dinged” a car as he was pulling out of our own space…..we left.
~Jim believes we started dating on the 3rd of March because we went to Pepe’s and kissed outside of Pier 1 Imports. To me this doesn’t count because we also went with Greg & Diana. Not my idea of romantic.
~On March 6th, he FINALLY officially asked me to be his girlfriend. We went to see the movie, The Next Best Thing, and it was so awful that we sat in the back row and….talked.
~We broke up once for less than 6 hours. I sobbed to this teacher we be-friended during lunch and stole a scarf out of Jim’s locker “just to smell it.” We were back together by the end of the day.
~Our first Valentine’s Day, Jim had to go on a field trip to the auto show. I was bummed, but later found a gigantic teddy bear in my locker as a surprise.
~A few years later, I was away at school and bummed to be celebrating Valentine’s Day alone as a waitress, working. We were set to celebrate that weekend, but I received one last table to wait on….it was Jim! He had driven all the way there to surprise me!
I love reminiscing and will continue this post in different parts as I think of more things…
What’s your favorite memory of you and your love?

I like the waitress one, too! One of my favorite memories is when my husband and I went on our first date (Mar 1, ’03). He started rubbing his hands together in the theater (we went to see The Lion King). I asked him what he was doing, and he answered, “I’m getting ready to hold your hand.”
