If you are anywhere in the vicinity of LaGrange or Elmhurst (Illinois), get on your shoes and literally run to Back Alley Burger. This past weekend, with a gift card in hand, we decided to test out this burger joint. We opted to head in at 11:15 a.m. on a Saturday (because we had two boys) and wanted to beat the crowds – which we barely did! Once we sat down, the place was hoppin’!
We kept things simple. I had the Back Alley Burger and Jim had the Bottomless Pitt Burger. I changed both of ours to pretzel buns (GREAT choice) and then kept the sides simple – sweet potato fries & onion rings – just to test them out. My 1/3# burger was AMAZING! And at this size, they don’t ask how you want it cooked, so it was a bit more done than I would normally have ordered, but still melt-in-your-mouth delicious!
Jim’s Bottomless Pitt Burger was a HUGE success – cooked to PERFECTION at medium rare, the juices were literally dripping off this sandwich. Jim said it is the best burger he has had in a long time (and we’ve tried all the usual – Five Guys, Meatheads, and Smashburger).
The sides were delicious as well. The sweet potato fries were seasoned with sea salt (we think) and were thin enough that you still got the crunch, but they didn’t feel greasy! The onion rings were solidly good as well. You can find the full menu here. They also have some great options for the non-beef and non-meat-eaters. YUM!
This is on our must-try list again and I have a feeling, we’ll be back here more often! Enjoy!!
