With the Blizzard of 2011 now fully behind us as we watch the snow melt under the heat of forty degree temperatures and with the passage of Valentine’s Day, we have decided as a family to embark on what we like to call the Holiday Challenge. Our house has been filled with various types of “junk” food for the past few weeks, whether it be convenience or craving it exists and frankly, shouldn’t.
We have decided, as a family, to challenge ourselves to be “junk-free” (this includes fast food) until the next MAJOR holiday – in this case, St. Patrick’s Day. AND, if you know anything about my mother, she makes KILLER corned beef sandwiches (full of yumminess) and it’s definitely worth the weight…err… wait. Jim plans to imbibe a Guinness or two that day also. The first week of the challenge, we will systematically rid our house of said junk, including, but not limited to, candy, sweets, chocolate, pop, pizza, chips, etc. (We don’t have all that, but I’m being all inclusive in case you are participating also).
Thirty days until St. Pat’s Day and only one other family function between now and then….are you in?

Sounds like an awesome idea! If it wasn’t for Shamrock shakes & Slurpees I do it.
