Charlie & Jack,
Eight years ago now (WOW!!), Valentine’s Day took on a very special meaning when Daddy brought me to Navy Pier (our favorite place) and asked me to marry him at the top of the Ferris Wheel (which he had turned on just for me!!!) and also asked me to be his forever Valentine. We then usually had dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp, but with our recent additions (YOU TWO!), we have not gotten to go down there.
Your first Valentine’s Day, Charlie, we went with Momma & Poppy to White Castle. It was fun, but not nearly as romantic as you’d think.
Last year, we had our own version of the St. Valentine’s Day massacre as daddy and I became HORRIBLY ill and needed Momma to come over and watch you.
This year, we decided we’d have a great night out AND our first one since having Jack! We were all set for a quick dinner out and opted to head to Cheesecake Factory at 4:30 p.m. (!!!) to catch dinner in Oak Brook on February 12th. Momma & Poppy came over to watch the two of you. Unfortunately, upon arrival (after laughing at how EARLY we’d be eating), the lobby was stuffed to the gills, they did not take reservations and it was 30 minutes JUST to get a pager!! Needless to say, we were stumped (and obviously ill-prepared). We then tried Wildfire, The Clubhouse, and even (gasp!) Gibson’s steakhouse. In each we were virtually laughed out the door and were either offered a table at 11:00 p.m. (nothankyou) or a seat at the bar (which Daddy just would not do!) Realizing that our night out was most likely headed towards Bust-ville, we opted for dinner at Giordano’s with a heart-shaped stuffed pizza. We laughed about our Valentine’s misfortune (now three years strong! haha) and vowed to attempt another night out on a less-busy night in the future.
We LOVE you! And Happy Valentine’s Day!
Love,
Mommy & Daddy
