Charlie,
As of 10:57 p.m. this evening, you will have officially entered our lives for exactly two years. You have brought us more joy than we could possibly imagine and you truly are one of the lights of our lives. I hope that TWO treats you just as well as one and that this year brings as much blessing to you as you continue to bring to us!
Likes:
Mommy & Daddy (I personally think Daddy a little more…)
BLANKETS!! (You have now graduated to handing the white blankie OUT of the crib before we remove you…clearly, this will probably be your “thing” as you get older).
Binkies – you have worn the saying off of the “I’m the Boss” one and it’s your favorite. For now, you spit out all else.
This holiday season has been a binge-fest for you. The mere SIGHT of people eating incites riots from you…we have snack foods ready ALL the time.
Vacuums. Still.
Books – yes, this obsession has been with you since before you were born and we hope it stays with you for a LONG LONG time!
Your corn popper from GG – although you do not stand with it, you know just how it works.
Knocking things down – when daddy and I attempt to build it…you quickly crawl over…to destroy it.
You enjoy counting! Momma has taught you how to count your fingers now…sort of.
Firsts:
*TWO STEPS – you are not really mobile in a walking sort of way, but as a mom, this TOTALLY counts.
*Christmas Eve celebration
*Christmas Day
*Ringing in the New Year!
*New words: “Pop-Pop” = Poppy and thousands of other sounds that now mimic us. You recognize the letters in your ABC book and CAN MAKE most of the sounds.
*Sign language – More, Jesus, Book, Milk…Your brain is like a little sponge right now!
*Counting on your one hand
*Standing on your own – for minutes at a time
*Sorting of making the number 1 with your finger
*Meeting Santa Claus…again
*Many NEW foods during this Christmas season
*Size 3 and 4 diapers (cloth included)
*You wear mostly 12-18 months clothing.
Dislikes:
You have a temper. You usually have to get your way (luckily, we are working on that) and you make your feelings known. You especially do not like when a toy does not “obey” you and you proceed to throw it on the ground. Ah…the months and years we have ahead of us!
After writing these letters, I can hardly believe that time has passed me by so quickly. As I headed into this week, I caught myself cherishing as best I can, squeezing you, and holding you close, because I know soon enough you will be running at life’s quick pace. You were my sign of hope in a time where I felt hopeless and you have forever altered our lives in the most amazing way. You are my little miracle. Happy 1st Birthday, my little boobah!
Love you, always and forever,
Mommy
