This morning was a lazy start for the household – Charlie woke up later & Jim made breakfast in with leftovers (smoked sausage, green peppers, onions, & scrambled eggs – made into a scramble with toast). Yum! Poppy added fresh strawberries!
We then headed out to the beach to meet Justin for some more sun n surf time. It was the HOTTEST of the days we’ve been here, but we stayed out there for a good two hours – we even needed to reapply sunscreen! The surfers were out in full force – Jim stayed out for a good amount of time – and Justin lost a contact! Charlie was up and down a zillion times, playing in the waves & in the sand. It was a great morning for collecting sea shells also.
Our next stop was the Doowop Diner for some American fare. While the service was slow (only one waitress), the food was fantastic – chicken wraps, shakes & burgers – yum! We did some souvenir shopping, then headed back to lay Charlie down for a nap.
We met up with Justin & Amy again at Sliders Seaside Grill. After being insulted by the man who brought our food (strange story for another time), we enjoyed fantastic foods – fresh seafood, burgers, & salads – and for some, a few libations. Upon discussing the incident with a manager, our entire meal was promptly comped – a MASSIVE surprise to us (especially considering it would have been our most expensive meal to date). We ventured out to Putt-Putt and the owner challenged us to encourage competition. The top two winners would get ice cream. After battling it out, Jim and Dad took the top prizes, but we were all offered FREE ice cream! After an evening where we just paid for Putt-Putt, we really enjoyed ourselves (and had lots of laughs)!
Highlights:
*FREE dinner! (that equals good food)!
*Finding beautiful shells
*Ice cream! (Free)
*R.e.l.a.x.a.t.i.o.n.
*Watching Charlie on his first “date” (and somehow managing to get most of it paid for!)
