After getting a luxurious TEN hours of sleep, we awoke at 7 a.m. eastern time to the sound of a bubbly baby. He looked as happy as a clam & we gathered ourselves together for a homemade breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, toast and fruit. We snagged our beach stuff and headed out to the ‘beach, beach, beach’ (Charlie’s new whispered word) and trekked out to a place in the sand while Momma & Poppy traveled the island.
Charlie quickly found his spot in the sand (water shoes in tow) and loved taking turns between playing in the sand & running through the water. Daddy’s sand town & moat were quickly washed away with the coming-closer tide as he attempted to sheild Charlie from the encroaching water. One of our shovels broke right away, but luckily, the house had a few extra toys for fun. We wrote Charlie’s name in the sand, picked up some seashells and soaked up some Vitamin D. We left with two sunburns (NOT Charlie), sand in every crevice, smiles on our faces & general fatigue.
We headed out to Chik Fil A (YUM-o) and grabbed our lunch. Then, we headed back home for some much needed rest time – equalling a FOUR HOUR NAP for Sir Charles & some time in front of Cable. It was nice & relaxing…
Heading out to discover water again, we walked about 20 steps to the inground pool and enjoyed some exercise & some more rays. Daddy chased after some newts, big and small (VERY FUNNY!) and finally captured a baby after much harumphing. When we approached, the little guy jumped away, but Charlie quickly snatched him up – Charlie was SO quick!! He enjoyed chasing them and looking for more…another fun afternoon!
Daddy made delicious jambalaya and afterwards, we enjoyed a Vales Family Favorite on vacation – Dairy Queen! Charlie couldn’t get enough and ate spoon after spoon of the good stuff. He now sleeps again…drifting into dream world as we plan our next excursion – which hopefully includes the beach again!
Highlights of the Day:
*Seeing Charlie excitedly chase one of God’s creatures all over the pool area only to snatch him up!
*Crashing in the waves of the Atlantic and enjoying the GORGEOUS seascape & weather.
*A delicious home-cooked meal
*CHIK FIL A!!!!!!
