Charlie,
You are a constant reminder of God’s grace on this earth, of his lasting love for us, and the blessings He wants for this life. In every way, I see you as THE single most important task for the rest of my life (until we add on!!) In each smile, cry, giggle, and tantrum, I thank Him. Where has my life been going?!
Likes:
Mommy & Daddy (thankfully) Your personality is HUGE, but you occasionally have your shy-guy days where you bury your head into us.
Uncle Jason – maybe it’s because he looks like your daddy – but you enjoy him so much – you look for him to entertain you and screech if he doesn’t look directly at you constantly
Poppy – while you go to Momma and Grandma and Grandpa, you’ve got a soft spot for Poppy and just like your mommy, you’ve got him wrapped around your finger!
BLANKETS!! (Haven’t I mentioned that for a while now…)
Still Binkies!
The Letter “W” (Not sure why, but it makes you light up whenever you hear us play it on the refrigerator)
The Office theme song (Yes, we sometimes have this on as background noise…)
Vacuums…big, large, small, compact, you name it, you find it. and follow it. everywhere.
Your face…everywhere – on the computer, in mirrors, as a reflection.
Books – you screech when you can’t have them, you “read” to yourself, you turn the pages, and you thoroughly enjoy the football book with the squeak on Sunday nights!
The outdoors – you are your father’s son. You love kicking the leaves, watching the pond nearby, and just generally, the wind in your hair.
Animals…currently, cats. You LOVE Chester and Charlie Bob at Aunt Missy and Bella’s house…they seem to share quite an affinity for you as well!
Mommy’s homemade bread (zucchini, pumpkin, you name it!)
Cords – daddy’s phone cord, USB cords, mommy’s ipod attachment
Getting into mischief and generally doing things you are not supposed to do
Screeching (particularly sounding like a pterodactyl) – you also enjoying panting heavily like Darth Vader, saying ba-ba, da-da, ma-ma, pop-pop, lah-lah-lah (and swirling your tongue around your lips)
Mimicking – you mimic MOST of what people do to you and enjoy seeing a reaction from them (particularly Sarai as you go for the quick easy laugh)
You also enjoy mimicking sounds – like woof (which is usually just huffed out air), meow (which is usually just a tiny sound), and moo (thanks to Momma for teaching you this game).
Sticking out your tongue (long and pointy)
Nice, nice – sort of…it usually ends up in a smack to daddy’s or my face
Firsts:
*Time at Chuck E. Cheese
*Halloween (and costume)
*Pumpkin Carving
*Pumpkin Patch
*Taste of Chicken Pot Pie
*Kiwi
*Strawberry Yogurt
*Homemade breads!
*THIRD Diners, Drive-ins and Dives trip to Paradise Pup
*You feed yourself VERY well now and eat many different table foods – it is almost to the point where we can barely list the different things you try! You love it all and have almost FULLY mastered the use of your sippy cup!
*You give kisses (mainly by leaning in to get them)and are learning the parts of your face
*You love (and live) to make people laugh (like Sarai)
*First celebration of Mommy’s Birthday
*First celebration of Momma’s Birthday
*First Veterans’ Day (Yup, daddy gets off this day also!)
*First time in WEEKARE – you did SO WELL! (my big boy)
*Size 3 diapers and still well into the swing of Cloth Diapers
*The size of your outfits still change – you can wear any size from nine months to some 12 months (!!) Some of your hand-me-down 12 month pajammys are even stretching at the seams….heaven help us, our little tank.
*Dancing! You bounce to the music and can manuever your way around furniture. You occasionally play the “risky” game of gently letting go of whatever helped you stand up…you quickly realize that’s just NOT for you at this moment!
*BACK to sleeping through the night (THANK THE LORD!)
Dislikes:
Avocado. The first official food you turned your HEAD TO! (However, recently in guacamole form, you didn’t protest too much….) You are very independent and aren’t quite a “cuddler,” usually. You HATE being left out of a room and you HATE when we say No! You also strongly dislike when the vaccies are put away for the day.
You are truly the most amazing thing I have ever helped do in all of my life.I see a true little boy in you – getting into mischief, getting dirty and “helping” daddy with the chores around the house – what a great man of God I know you’ll be. Thank you for the past TEN months…life just gets more exciting with each new part of this journey.
