Since we arrived at our destination later last night, we decided to play it local today. A certain *little* someone woke up at 6 a.m. (!), so I quickly fed him, then put him back to bed with daddy, where they snuggled for a few more hours. Once everyone was up, we headed to The Breakfast Club in Farmington Hills, Michigan – it was scrumptious!! I ordered the Breakfast Wrap with hashbrowns, a crossaint sandwich for momma, and fresh blueberry pancakes with large sausage links for daddy. Needless to say, it was AMAZING! And the finishing touch was the chocolate-covered strawberries – yummy!! (Sidebar: it was somewhat expensive but SO SO worth it.)
After that, we walked the 12 Oaks Mall in Novi and got some freebies, a few clearanced items and a Christmas present. Charlie loved taking a nap and then seeing all the mall sights.
We ended up at Kroger for some essentials grocery shopping. Can I just say – Kroger MUST come to the Chicagoland area?!? I loved it!! Charlie rode around in the little car cart (pictures forthcoming) and I enjoyed saving a ton. For just over $20, we bought food for at least four meals and a few little snacks for fun. What great deals!
After taking our afternoon leisurely, we headed out to “downtown” Walled Lake which is about 1/2 a block long. On the bright side, we ended up at the beach – although we didn’t have ANY of our swim gear. Charlie’s favorite spot for sure! We let him dig in the sand, we buried him and even caught pictures of him splashing around! He never wanted to leave and after his bath tonight, the tub was sand-covered! Who knew babies had so many little crevices?! This spot will be returned to later this week with proper swimming gear.
The evening ended with some GREAT food for dinner. Jim grilled some chicken breasts, corn on the cob, roasted potatoes and green beans and Texas toast with fresh fruit! A light and healthy meal after our intoxicating breakfast. We are just settling down to relax in front of a movie. With a sleeping babe and our bellies full, this has been a pretty great first official day to vacation.
