Charlie didn’t sleep in the hotel’s pack n play. Thankfully, there were two queen-sized beds and so he and I snuggled in together (the beds were one of his favorites of the trip). He woke up bright and early at 6 a.m. (!!!!) – an internal clock that obviously keeps working on vacation. We used this opportunity to feed him breakfast and then head to the pool! His eyes were so wide and he loved splashing around in the water! We even let him take a little dip in the whirlpool – he loved all the bubbles and the warmer water!
We headed out by 8 a.m. and stopped for breakfast at Cracker Barrel in Gurnee, Illinois. (Yum!) Jim and I both got Grandpa’s Breakfast and Charlie slept soundly! He did pretty well in the car and even caught up on some much needed sleep.
We stopped at church for a quick meeting, had Subway for lunch and then were on our way (after a struggle with Charlie’s new BIG BOY car seat!) He looked small in it, but I’m sure soon enough, he’ll outgrow that too! We saw many license plates (so far, I’m winning!) and Charlie napped, played and only fussed for a bit. The ride took a little over four hours, but we did stop for dinner at Culver’s. While it’s not anything new for us, we enjoyed it immensely (my FIRST butter burger) and even helped out the local high school since it was Student Government night there. We arrived at our location 8:00 p.m. CST and were welcomed with fresh flowers, treats in the cupboards and fridge, and soft music and lights on. The home is the perfect fit for us and it is gorgeous! (Pictures forthcoming) We settled in for the night in our queen plush bed and look forward to an exploratory morning…
