Five Months Old

Charlie,

Another month has passed and yet again, you’ve grown SO SO MUCH!! You’re becoming quite the little man and everyone who meets you just seems to fall in love! You are a continual reminder of God’s blessing.

Pacifier (And removing it out of your mouth, attempting to reinsert it, then getting aggravated that it won’t return there!)

Firsts:

*Probably the biggest milestone this month has been our dabble in solid foods. We started out with regular adult food (SMALL tidbits) of chocolate frosting, a black bean, and red jello IN THAT ORDER. We then added some rice cereal and applesauce which you GOBBLED up. You love to “help” me feed you and grab the spoon with a vice-like grip. You know what being in your high chair means and if I would give you food constantly, you would take it. Most recently, we tried squash and it appears to be another favorite! Next up, green veggies! (Oops, did I also mention that daddy snuck you some ice cream when you came to visit us at the Highland Queen? You hopped up and down ready for more!)
*Blackhawks OUT of the playoffs to the Detroit Red Wings (but thankfully, they lost the Stanley Cup to the Pittsburgh Penguins)
*You occasionally roll over from belly to back
*Celebrated your first Memorial Day
*Attend first MLB game – Cubs v. Dodgers (they lost! big surprise)
*First official Parade attendance (LaGrange Pet Parade)
*First trip to Lake Katherine
*First dabble in bubbles
*First animated movie: Finding Nemo (We weren’t feeling well and just decided to relax on the couch – you laughed out loud when Dory and Marlin came shooting out of the whale’s spout!)
*First time away from daddy (He went to New York!)
*First time in your jumperoo – not such a big fan…
*First bath/shower with daddy – You don’t even like baths THIS way!
*You love to stand up on your two feet and look around. You try hopping and jumping and cuddling (usually) isn’t your thing.
*First time in the front-to-back carrier
*Size 2 and occasional size 2-3 diapers!

Dislikes:

STILL Baths!
When food is gone (You no longer scream for a long time, but you make it known that you are unhappy. You are my little garbage disposal and I wouldn’t have it any other way – besides you’re pretty active!)
When daddy had to leave for a work trip!
When daddy jogs in the jogging stroller

In some ways, you seem to stay the same. You like the same things, give the same smirks, and can’t stand the same tasks in your life. But in other ways, you change – almost before my very eyes and as each day passes, I can hardly believe what life was like without you. You are truly a gift.
