As if perfectly ordained long before we even knew of him, we welcomed Charlie home on his due date – January 18, 2009.
We left the hospital in the morning after rushing around a bit. We dressed him in a traditional African outfit made by the Anidobus from church. He looked adorable, even if it was a bit over-sized! We brought a TON of free stuff back (like diapers and such, including his shirt. HAHA!) and headed to my mom’s for an afternoon of cousin, uncle, and family introductions.
His Uncle David was oh so eager to hold him and Kaeli just LOVED him! They wanted to eat him up – his cousins Jonathan and David took a little longer to warm up to him. Jonathan said “OUCH!” the first time we set Charlie on him and wanted to know when Charlie would play with him. David promised to hold him “tomorrow” and they simply didn’t know what to do with him!
Aunt Linda and Riya came over (Sarai and Unky Bill were sick) and he was later visited again by his Grandma and Grandpa Schultz, Aunt Sarah, Great Aunt Annie, and Great Grandma Murphy.
We ended the evening by bringing him home in the blustery cold to our house. We tried the swing…he was less than thrilled and kept us up for a few hours with crying from obvious gastrointestinal issues…but we got through it and lived to tell about it!
First time in his bed!
