On Saturday, we were obviously still in the hospital, but the night before all of my attachments were removed! (IV, pitocin, catheter) I was finally able to walk around more on my own and I was able to take a MUCH NEEDED shower with Jim’s assistance. My mom came and relieved him for part of the day and he was able to nap, clean up at home (unfortunately had left raw chicken packaging and pineapple leftovers in garbage, so he aired that out), tested out our heat which had yet to be used this winter, and gather some last minute things we’d need for Charlie.
I “suffered” through hospital food again and called Kaeli and Marisa BEGGING them to send something worthwhile with Marisa when she came to visit me later that night. She thankfully came through with nectarines, 2 sandwiches (one for dad and one for me) and a tupperware full of awesome cookies. My Aunt Paulette called me and we had a whirlwind of visitors that night that was somewhat interrupted by an impromptu feeding session by Charlie. He also had his diaper changed in front of the WHOLE audience outside the glass window and from what I hear, he left quite the gift for the nurses.
We received flowers from Uncle Dan and Aunt Sara and Uncle Terry and Aunt Shirley and were visited by Todd and Alisha, Alicia, Chris (& Malachi), Mimi, Bethany, Unky Aldo, Great Grandma, Annie, Grandma and Grandpa Schultz, Jessica W. and Momma and Poppy. Charlie got some more cute outfits that will surely be put to good use in the next few months. The evening was nice as Jim and I got some much needed rest – we slept in opposite conditions and actually really liked it!! (He on the bed and I in the chair). Darling was taken out for his nightly weigh-in (7 lbs, 13 oz.), his hearing test (Passed!), and his PKU shot in his foot (thank goodness for little band-aids!) We are almost home…
